Happy Monday!
Popping in with our art of the day email, which will be coming to your inbox each week.
At soal, we want to help you get inspired, gain confidence and engage with more art. That’s why we are sharing one artwork from a soal artist with you every Monday.
We also see this week’s feature as a reminder to lean on others for support this week.
If you like the artwork, have any questions or want to learn more, leave a comment! Or drop a note in the soal Substack chat. You can always reach us at hello@thisissoal.com :)
The Hug, 2024
By Wencke Uhl
I came of age in the ’90s, a time when fashion design and fashion photography was at its height – not in the least because it was also the beginning of establishing the image of emancipated women in popular culture. This had a tremendous influence on my view of the world and how it should be.
Wencke Uhl is a Germany-based and self-identified "contemporary figurative paintress." She is inspired by human beauty, the female form, and fashion. Go check out her bio and more of her art in the soal app!
And in case you missed it, here is a link to our conversation with Wencke where she shares the inspiration behind her work and what the best piece of advice she’s ever received.
Want to tap into some of Wencke’s creative flow? She loves a mix of pop, RnB, a little hip hop and classical piano music (like this Spotify playlist).
Remember, you can always hop into soal and search for the artist in the search bar at the top right of the home screen (🔍). See the emotion tags under each artwork? Soon you’ll be able to search by those and find artworks that made others in the community feel “connected” as well.
And if you haven’t filled out our quick feedback survey for the app, please do so here! Because we’re still figuring a lot of things out, every bit of feedback is super important to us.
